ANALYSES/FUNCTIONAL JOB DESCRIPTIONS
ORNetwork utilizes job analyses as an effective vocational tool in
outlining the exact components of a job through the systematic collection
of information about the job. This allows the vocational consultant
to analyze the job and define the tasks, knowledge, skills, and physical
abilities necessary to perform the job. The analysis provides accurate,
factual information that may be used in the creation of functional
job descriptions that are ADA compliant as well as to determine an
individual’s capacity to perform the essential functions of
the job.
WORKSITE EVALUATIONS
A worksite assessment can be undertaken at the workplace to identify
alternative duties or make recommendations for workplace modifications
and/or job redesign to accommodate an injured or ill employee's return
to work, and promote a safe work environment. It is all too easy to
become complacent about your own environment and not be in a position
to recognize existing or potential issues. ORNetwork is likely to
see potential problems that the employees or employer may overlook.
ERGONOMIC ASSESSMENTS & TRAININGS
An ergonomic evaluation is a preventative measure that allows an employer
to decrease the risk of employee injury. An ergonomic evaluation will
help to confirm that a position can be performed safely by changing,
if necessary, the physical structure of the job while maintaining
the integrity of the job requirements. Over the past few years, there
has been a growing trend for occupational injuries to be attributed
to poor body mechanics and work station design. These issues can be
quickly and successfully addressed through ergonomic evaluation and
training.
TRANSITIONAL RETURN TO WORK PROGRAMS
Identifying positions that can be modified to accommodate physical
restrictions, either temporarily or permanently, is the most cost-effective
approach an employer can take in returning an injured or disabled
employee to work. This process allows a worker with a decreased functional
ability to return to work in some capacity while completing a treatment
program. The modified position is considered transitional in nature
and is usually structured with the goal of a return to full employment
within a specified time frame. Returning an employee to work as quickly
as possible facilitates a positive working relationship between the
employer and employee, significantly increases the likelihood that
an employee will remain employed and, thereby, significantly reduces
costs associated with lengthy indemnity payments. ORNetwork has been
instrumental in implementing successful programs within a multitude
of work environments such as hospitals, universities, manufacturers,
municipal public works, and within the construction industry.
MEDICAL CASE MANAGEMENT
ORNetwork provides high quality case management services by working
closely with the injured or ill employee, treatment provider, and
other significant parties to coordinate successful outcomes. Knowledge
of community resources, excellent counseling techniques, and concise
case reporting are the skills used to assist employees in achieving
successful recovery, rehabilitation, and return to work. The case
management staff consists of highly experienced Registered Nurses
who hold the knowledge and skills to effectively manage cases in
a timely, cost effective manner.
